Nashville police release video in slaying of Ethiopian business owner

Metro police have released surveillance video of the targeted shooting of an Ethiopian business owner while he was working at his restaurant last weekend.

Gitem Demissie, 41, was killed by a masked gunman as he was preparing to shut down the Ibex Ethiopian Bar & Restaurant on Murfreesboro Pike around midnight, according to police.

A witness said the gunman, clad in a long-sleeved black shirt and black jeans, approached Demissie and shot him multiple times. The shooter then fled.

The witness described the shooter as man standing about 5-foot-7 inches with light skin and a thin build.

The full version of one of the videos released by police Thursday, shows a man wearing a light-colored sweatshirt with a hoodie walk up swiftly towards the bar, with a man is sitting and the victim behind it. The suspect points a gun at the victim and fires multiple shots at him.

The man sitting at the bar then drops to the ground and the shooter walks around the bar and points the gun towards the victim but does not fire.

The shooter then returns back around the bar and fires more shots at the victim while he is still moving.
