Regional President Ato Lema and Ato Gedu Visits The Netherlands

The Regional President of Oromia, Lemma Megersa, and the Regional President of Amhara, Gedu Andargachew, recently visited The Netherlands. The purpose of the visit was to familiarize the Regional Presidents with some of the Dutch companies active in Ethiopia, such as Heineken, Groente en Fruithuis, Wageningen University and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Some of the challenges surrounding international investments have also been discussed.

The Netherlands has a long standing economic and development relationship with countries in the Horn of Africa, and in particular with Ethiopia. Ethiopia is an important partner of the Netherlands and the regions Oromia and Amhara are the regions where most of the aid and trade activities of the Netherlands take place. More than 100 Dutch companies are active in Ethiopia and create about 70.000 jobs.

The favourable climatic conditions, the large domestic market, the powerful economic growth and the ambitious development agenda make Ethiopia an interesting country for Dutch entrepreneurs.

Minister Kaag has a proactive trade and development agenda, and aims to strengthen cooperation with Ethiopia for a sustainable and inclusive growth of the country.
