Ethiopia loses a true patriot || by Obang Metho

I am deeply shocked, saddened, sickened and angered by the barbaric killing of brother Tewodros Abebaw.

His tragic death has brought deep pain, sorrow and horror to the thousands of lives whom he had touched including mine.

His death is a great loss not only to his loved ones, Addis Ababa people but the whole country.

Brother Tewodros was not only a good citizen but great leader who bears his share of responsibility: not only for the destiny of his country, but for the humanity and the whole world. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Tewodros was a true patriot. True patriots bravely step forward not only to bring forth unbiased views, but also to speak out when his or her country’s course needs to be altered for the benefit of all of its citizens. We will missed him greatly.

7C7BCCEB-BDA6-483A-A94E-A70DE46019EFThe killers should be brought to justice. The safety, security and peace among the people is a paramount issue that should be immediately addressed in every part of the country.

I call the government to get serious about confronting these senseless killings throughout the country. The core responsibility of any government is the security and wellbeing of all their citizens regardless of their ethnicity or any other differences.

The life of common people has become so cheap in Ethiopia of institutional tribalism (also known as ethnic federalism or nations, nationalities, and peoples).

For how long will this ethnic based politics of madnesses and craziness continue to goes on? When will we have a genuine leaders and government that put the highest value on the human life, health and rule of law first?

Once again I would like to offer our deeply felt condolences to his family and friends. May we open hearts and educate ourselves about the value of the human life.

May God remind us to see other Ethiopians as we see ourselves and stand up for righteousness as the best path to a peaceful and harmonious Ethiopia.
